Decolonizing Gender. Transcultural Perspectives

Allgemeine Beschreibung

The course provides an exploration of gender and decolonial theory within a transcultural framework. Understanding the varied journeys of the concept of 'gender' in a globalized world, marked by (post-)colon power dynamics, demands ongoing scrutiny of its evolving meanings. Drawing from diverse strands of critical theory, course readings are examined in the context of a collaborative effort between Swiss and Arab higher education institutions. Jointly conducted sessions by colleagues from Switzerland, Morocco, and Egypt are part of an ongoing project aimed at advancing shared knowledge production in gender and diversity, led by UZH.
