The interdisciplinary doctoral programs Gender Studies are aimed at doctoral students of the Universities of Basel, Bern, Zurich and the Romandie (Lausanne, Geneva, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, IHEID and other associated institutions), who deal with the analytical category of gender in the context of their dissertation or who identify feminist/intersectional approaches as the central perspective of their research project and are interested in an interdisciplinary exchange on these topics. The programs award ECTS credits at the doctoral level and lead to a Diploma Supplement Gender Studies at some universities.
In Switzerland, there are four doctoral programs in Gender Studies, linked in French-speaking Switzerland by the inter-university network of CUSO and in German-speaking Switzerland by the inter-university doctoral program in Gender Studies (Basel, Bern, Zurich).
The inter-university doctoral program Gender Studies Basel, Bern and Zurich extends the offer of the local doctoral programs by jointly organized events (workshops, retreats, summer schools etc.). It supports the local programs in their efforts to network doctoral students with each other and international experts.
