Gender, Race and Diversity

The course explores how gender, race, and diversity intersect to create spaces of significant cultural and socio-political change. In doing so, it offers a conceptually rich, theoretically informed, and empirically illustrated understanding of why these categories matter more than ever, and how they impact and transform social structures globally. By seeking to comprehend these evolving processes, the course lays the groundwork for critical engagement and appreciation that is not only scholarly but also geared towards shaping policy interventions, political actions, and expressions sensitive to rights-based approaches and social justice. Ultimately, the course questions whether gender, race, and diversity, paradoxically, are transcending the cultural, political, and material conditions of their (re)production by reshaping human consciousness and catalysing the emergence of a new world order.
