Der Postfeminismus-Vorwurf
Der Postfeminismus-Vorwurf. Beobachtungen zum feministischen Selbstkonzept junger Theaterkünstlerinnen und Journalistinnen am Beispiel des Missy Magazine
Summary
The reproach of postfeminism. Observations on feminist self-conceptions among young theatre artists and journalists in Missy Maga-zineSince cultural scientist Angela McRobbie be-gan publishing her studies, at the latest, fe-male artists working in pop culture have been suspected of commercialising and trivialising feminist issues. The reproach of post-femi-nism can often be heard in Germany too in the debate about “old vs. new feminism” in relation to the art of young and successful women. Missy Magazine portrays various pop cultural female artists, whereby there is always some reference to feminism. This arti-cle is dedicated to the female theatre-makers portrayed in Missy Magazine and their femi-nist self-conceptions. The category “post-fe-minism” is thereby subjected to a critical ex-amination and is compared to contemporary female theatre-makers’ self-image. Drawing on the theory of post-dramatic theatre, the similarities that exist in a young theatre gene-ration are underlined.
