Training Skills for Transformative Change in Gender, Race and Diversity
At the end of this course, students will: - Understand the theoretical and conceptual foundations of transformative training - Possess the basic tools and skills needed for effective transformative training - Be aware of the key challenges and resistances for transformative training, and how to address these This workshop is primarily practical, although fully grounded in the theory of pedagogies for gender equality, diversity and anti-racism work. A supportive, "safe-brave" space will be created in order to nurture each other as we develop our skills as trainers. The workshop is suitable for those with or without previous experience in teaching and/or training. All levels of experience and ability can be accommodated. Please note that this is a practical course which focuses more on methodology than content. The aim is to provide practical skills that students can use to develop their own training and facilitation to complement their own specialist interests in gender, race and diversity. Lucy Ferguson is an experienced trainer and facilitator, and works hard to make sure her courses are interactive, reflexive, and follow the principles of participatory, feminist and anti-racist learning. In the past two years, Lucy has supported over 100 people to become trainers in gender, race and diversity. This will be the fourth edition of this workshop for the Graduate Institute, and is adapted to the interest and needs of MINT students
