The range of mentoring opportunities at Swiss universities is constantly changing. Almost every bigger education institution offers one or more programmes that stimulate exchange between students and university members. Activities focus mainly on career development for women, since striking horizontal segregation is still the case in a lot of disciplines. In the French-speaking part of Switzerland, the Réseau romand de mentoring pour femmes is contributing to improve this situation. The equivalent programme in german-speaking Switzerland, Mentoring Deutschschweiz was terminated in 2016. The Fix the Leaky Pipeline programm (FLP) contributes to promote the women's careers in the ETH Domain (ETHZ, EPFL, PSI, WSL, Empa, Eawag).
At the European level, the European Network of Mentoring Programmes for the Advancement of Equal Opportunities and Cultural and Institutional Change in Academia and Research (eument-net) was founded in 2007.
