Trajectoires de militantes du mouvement des femmes des années 1970 en Suisse: le féminisme comme carrière
This article intends to show how feminism profoundly shaped the professional career of women active in the 1970s women’s liberation movement in Switzerland. Feminism reinvested in professional careers outside of the militant arena sometimes opened prestigious work opportunities for women, bringing some of them to the Swiss Parliament where they defended, at least partly, feminist agendas, or standpoints in favor of gender equality. The article shows how the feminist militants of the 1970s movement, scarcely interested in equality questions and the law during the first years of their mobilization, finally participated in producing highly institutionalized organisms devoted to women’s rights and reinjected their feminist orientations into Trade Unions and Parties. Professional equality, especially salary equality has been a fertile ground to grow those careers.
