Ghana’s 2024 elections and changing stances of politicians on LGBT* rights

... as many Ghanaians generally feel anxious about Western interference, the National Coalition and the New Democratic Congress (NDC) which rivals the then-ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched a campaign that framed local LGBT* people as Western agents. These agents were supposedly deployed to destroy the traditional notion of ‘family’, while further entrenching Ghana in neocolonial subordination and exploitation.
