RESILIENT VOICES: HOW WOMEN IN COLOMBIA AND ECUADOR FACE AND HEAL FROM VIOLENCE

Hosted by SWISSAID and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies (ICFG) at the University of Bern, this panel discussion brings together experts from Colombia and Switzerland to examine gender-based violence in rural contexts of Ecuador and Colombia. 

Drawing on recent evaluation findings, the event explores how structural and cultural dynamics—such as machismo, economic dependency, and institutional neglect—shape women’s vulnerability to violence. Particular attention will be given to indigenous feminist strategies and the role of research in uncovering hidden forms of violence and fostering gender-transformative change. The panel includes voices from academia, activists and international cooperation, and aims to generate dialogue on effective approaches to prevention, empowerment, and solidarity.
