Objectif
This class focuses on two novels by the Nigerian author Sefi Atta: Everything Good Will Come (2005) and A Bit of Difference (2013). The feminist essay by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie We Should All Be Feminists (2012) and Leonora Miano's poems in Ce qu'il faut dire (2019) are going to shed light on the close-reading of Atta's novels, providing us with a vocabulary and framework for thinking gender in an African and Afroeuropean context.
The aim is to close-read and analyse gender in Sefi Atta's novels but also to question the global relevance - or not - of gender concepts and criticism in general when discussed by Atta, Adichie, or Miano.
