Feminist strategies in international governance
Decades of feminist activism and research have led to an international recognition of gender equality as a basic value and to profound changes in gender relations around the globe. This Research and Policy Brief summarizes a new book including the work of PGGC researchers which provides an assessment of the successes and failures of feminist strategies as they have been and are being implemented in the work of intergovernmental organisations, more specifically the United Nations and its affiliated agencies.
It explores the issue areas of:
- women’s human rights and violence against women;
- security, women’s participation in peace-making and their protection in contexts of conflict; and
- development, international economic and financial governance
