Physician, Researcher & Lecturer in migration and refugee health
I believe we can identify and overcome barriers by working together to provide everyone with equitable access to safe and good quality healthcare services.
Current medical training does not prepare us as physicians to provide adequate medical care for people in crisis due to migration. Therefore, I expanded my own medical training to meet the required competencies. Additionally, it drives me to develop and implement new teaching concepts and courses for medical students and healthcare professionals within migration and refugee health.
It is essential, I believe, to define preventive and therapeutic strategies underpinned by scientific evidence to complement our clinical work. In order to promote migrants and refugees health status, we must understand their current health problems and barriers of access to care, to be able to act upon it and to tailor medical / public health actions to the current and local needs.
