The family is getting bigger

“The family is getting bigger” is a joint publication of the Equal Opportunities Service, USI, and the Gender and Diversity Service, SUPSI.

It aims to provide all new parents, but also anyone who has taken on the responsibility of caring for a close relative, with useful information on rules and regulations in force in our two academic institutions, and on any policies that have been put in place to foster family welfare.

This edition presents an overview of the legal framework as well as some measures implemented by Università della Svizzera italiana to facilitate work-life balance. Information regarding the University of Applied Sciences, on the other hand, is available on its web site. To promote harmony and balance between family life and professional commitments, USI has developed a strategy involving different aspects and dimensions: how to organise work and/or study, information and guidance on matters related to the issue, and the services available to the members of its academic community.
