The course looks at the emergence of Black feminist thought. Using theoretical texts and "other" cultural and political Feminist material (including films, poems, music etc) it maps and critically examines key debates that have animated this scholarship. It provocatively considers intersections between black feminism, gender, race, class and sexuality. The second part of the course looks at decolonisation and decolonising feminism debates. It engages with decolonial feminist theory that has emerged from the Global South.
