Prix Lux 2019

The University of Bern will award the equal opportunities prize Prix Lux in 2019 for the third time. The jury is looking for people or units who are committed to gender equality or diversity at the University of Bern. Proposals for nomination with a short explanation (description of the measure, indication of objectives and target groups, effect of the measure) will be accepted by the Gender Equality Office until 30 June 2019.

Conditions for participation

Nominations can be made for persons (e.g. students, staff from the faculties and competence centers or the central administration) or units (e.g. student organisations, groups of staff, institutes, faculties) who are committed to gender equality at the University of Berne. The measures applied should stimulate a discussion on gender equality issues, be innovative, original and sustainable, and have transfer potential.

The price

The price winner will receive CHF 2'000.- and a luminous object. The winner is elected by a jury.

Application

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2019. You can apply or suggest another person or university unit for the price.

The jury

The jury consists of one representative each of the Executive Board of the University of Bern, the intermediate staff association, the Student Union of the University of Bern (SUB), the cantonal equal opportunities office, the Communication and Marketing Office and two representatives of the Office for Gender Equality.

Inspiration/possible measures

Applications for the Prix Lux can come from the most diverse contexts, from the faculties or the central administration. For example nominations have been made in recent years from the following areas: flexible working time models, job sharing, inclusive team culture, equal opportunities in practice, gender-fair language, career planning for mothers with children, reintegration of sick employees, introductory offers for girls or boys in gender-untypical areas, diversity-promoting appointment strategies and many more...
