NCCR Automation

The National Centre of Competence in Research «Dependable, ubiquitous automation», NCCR Automation for short, investigates new approaches to the control of complex automated systems and implements them in concrete applications in practice. Through networked research, the development of new technologies and education, the NCCR aims to strengthen Switzerland's leading role in automation and control technology.

Profile

Digitalisation and automation are forging ahead and are set to increasingly permeate our daily lives in the future. To deliver the expected benefits and gain social acceptance, automation systems must function reliably and securely. This is why the National Centre of Competence in Research on Dependable, Ubiquitous Automation (NCCR Automation), is laying the foundations of dependable automation systems and is implementing the resulting solutions in practice to demonstrate their social relevance.

NCCRs are interdisciplinary research networks funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). They support research in areas that are of strategic importance for the future of Swiss science, economy and society.

Vision & Mission

The NCCR Automation seeks to boost Switzerland’s position as a leading worldwide hub for research, education, and innovation in automation and control engineering.

The NCCR Automation is creating a platform to connect Swiss research in the field of control and automation, and in this way will drive research forward to the next level.

We make new technologies available to the Swiss industry, to give them a competitive edge.

We develop training and continuing education programs to equip future specialists for a wide range of tasks and keep industry experts abreast of the latest developments.

We encourage young researchers to venture into the field of automation, foster their progress, and are committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all.
