Veranstaltungsinhalt

The course provides an introduction to gender and decolonial theory in a transcultural perspective. The institutional and linguistic travels of the notion of "gender" in a globalized world characterized by (post-) colonial power asymmetries require constant attention to shifiting usages and meanings. The course readings combine different strands of critical theory to be discussed and probed in light of an ongoing collaboration in teaching and research between different Swiss and Arab institutions of higher education.

Hinweise

The common sessions of the course are developed and taught jointly by colleagues from Switzerland, Morocco, Egypt and Lebanon in the framework of the Consortium for Research and Education (COFER) PRO GED (Promoting Gender Equality and Diversity through Shared Knowledge Production) headed at UZH (https://www.aoi.uzh.ch/de/genderstudies/pro-ged.html).
