These last years, gender studies have gained wider recognition within the swiss academic world. For a long time, gender studies existed in niches in the universities and their existence mostly depended on the contributions of individual researchers. Nowadays, what is recognized as a standard in many universities worlwide became also a standard in Switzerland: gender studies are being institutionalised, extended and integrated into various study programmes.
