The network's objectives are diverse. It seeks to enhance the visibility of gender studies as well as their legitimacy in the institutional field. Its goal is also to create a collective and mixte, interuniversity and interdisciplinary space of exchange around feminism, projects, constitution of new knowledge, etc. LIEGE is a project that has been started in autumn 1998 by a working group with members form different faculties of the University of Lausanne. In spring 2001, LIEGE was accepted as a mentoring programme and supported by the federal programme " Equal chances". The way of working of the LIEGE is not a classical mentoring relation between two persons, but much more a "collective mentoring" as it offers resources and support on an individual and collective base. LIEGE counts currently around 800 members, most of them from french speaking part of Switzerland. From the beginning of 2008, LIEGE and Gendercampus are collaborating and the network is accessible to the german speaking part of Switzerland. The interested persons can subscribe to the Gendercampus / LIEGE network. The subscription is free.
