The eument-net project aims at building a European Network of Mentoring Programmes to

• exchange experience and best practices among mentoring programmes for high potential junior women scientists and organise knowledge transfer at a regional, trans-national and on a wider European level
• foster the mobility and networks of women scientists within the wider Europe and strengthen their position in academia through mentoring

Eument-net has recently published a Policy Recommendations that is addressed to European and national policy makers, scientific and research institutions, but also to the industry and the civil community. A Guideline manual on "Establishing mentoring in Europe"is also available.

The eument-net project is supported by the 6th European Framework Programme. Its project-phase runs from January 2007 to September 2008. To reach the above mentioned aim, the eument-net project will:

• Organise a survey on the implementation of mentoring programmes for women scientists in different contexts and on the needs and requirements of a European network of such programmes > Spring 2007
• Discuss results at the 5th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education, Berlin > August 28-31 2007
• Edit a Best practices guideline manual on the implementation of mentoring programmes for women scientists in different contexts > February 2008
• Elaborate and launch an electronic Platform, including a database of mentoring programmes of academic mentoring programmes for women scientists, and an electronic forum for member programmes > February 2008
• Organise transfer and training activities in 2 regional network conferences in Basel (Switzerland) and Sofia (Bulgaria) > March/ April 2008
• Create a database of women scientists at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and translate the Best Practice guideline manual in Bulgarian to foster the implementation of mentoring schemes in eastern European countries > December / March 2008
