The task of promoting and implementing gender equality in Swiss universities and vocational colleges is usually beared by an "equality office" peculiar to each institution, but also by scientific or political organizations and private associations.

 

The mission of Federal institutions such as federal equality offices is to promote gender equality on a national level.

The mission of cantonal institutions such as cantonal equality offices is also to promote gender equality, but on a cantonal level.

The gender equality commissioners act as contact persons regarding issues related to gender equality. In addition, they supervise gender equality projects.
